innovation award 2017

The Texas Guadaloop team is honored to have competed in the SpaceX Pod Competition II and taken home an Innovation Award for their unique air bearings levitation system.

"Texas has officially left it's mark on the inception of the Hyperloop!" - Texas Guadaloop

Texas Guadaloop is a diverse group of men and women disrupting the current transportation ecosystem. They have designed, built and tested a Hyperloop pod that levitates utilizing air bearing technology. Guadaloop's solution is an energy efficient and cost-effective alternative to how we move goods and people.

What if you could get 2.64 years of your life back?

Driving is a full time job (literally). Americans spend 293 hours on the road each year, meaning, the average american will spend 2.64 years behind the wheel in their lifetime. If time is money, the hyperloop pays you to move faster.

Besides wasting time, Americans consume 143.43 billion gallons of gasoline a year on average.

We are building a system that will allow you to travel from L.A to San Francisco or Austin to Dallas in 25 minutes without using any gasoline.

Sound impossible?

Competition weekend

On August 25th 2017, Texas Guadaloop attended the  SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition II held at the SpaceX headquarters in Hawthorne, CA along with 24 teams from around the world.

They were awarded an Innovation Award, one of three awarded, for their simple yet effective design on their air bearing pod.

how it works

We use air bearings to levitate and achieve zero friction within the hyperloop tubing. Most pods use magnetic levitation, MagLev which is expensive and energy draining.

What are air bearings? Think of an air hockey table reversed where air is being pumped out of the puck (our pod) instead of the table. We levitate on a thin gap of air allowing our pod to glide through the tubing. Air bearings are ideal for Hyperloop transportation because of their ability to create frictionless movement while decreasing drag.

We aim to revolutionize the way the world moves goods and people, creating a more sustainable solution to the increasing transportation needs.

The best part? We've built and tested our pod. And it works.
